The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva (Switzerland) is a globally unique organization that allows trademarks and patents to be registered in 122 countries.

The WIPO “Madrid System” is a central solution for registering trademarks in 122 countries. It is not necessary to work with national or local lawyers. Trademarks can be registered centrally in the 122 participating countries via the WIPO system. A trademark registered in one country is extended to other countries via the international registration authority of WIPO in Geneva.

The central system simplifies the approval process, especially for approvals in several countries. Global companies such as Microsoft, Nestle, Sony or Daimler use the WIPO system for worldwide brand approvals.
